Gordon,

Thanks for all the advice. Sounds like you've been there and done that. How
long have you been afflicted with this dreaded DUKW disease?
Will I suffer long?

I do a lot of off-roading in a Toyota Land Cruiser and have been running a
converted air conditioning compressor as an air compressor for years. Your
cautions about compressors, tanks, and safety valves are right on the mark.
I do think I'll hold off telling my wife the exploding air tank story for a
while though: I think it will be hard enough just getting her to ride with
me!

The tire inflation system on these things is just too cool not to have
complete and in working order. Once I get this beast mechanically solid,
restoring the air system will be my next priority.

I enjoyed the windscreen lecture: sounds like something I'd do :) Both of my
windscreens have cracks in the glass in every panel, so I'll be replacing all
the glass soon. Any reason I can't just use a single sheet of 1/4" glass and
use spacers in the frame to make up the difference?
