All the Ford-based generators I have seen are based on the GP engine (or
Ford 9N tractor). Has anyone seen generator units based on GPW
engines?

Otherwise, your description is pretty much accurate except for:

I do not believe this to be the case. Willys-Overland attached the frame
and body tags. On a MB, the frame and body tag serial numbers should
match. It is the engine number that never matches. American Central
only stamped the body number on the left toe board gusset that appears
was only used for their accounting purposes....
