A friend and I got a 15kw generator, diesel driven, brand new. I forgot
the actual code, but he said it was among the worse. It was also marked
"unserviceable". We had it running perfect in ten minutes. The
problem? A loose wire on the start switch!

According to a friend who worked maintenance in the Navy, a lot of stuff
went to DRMO when an inspection was due for the shop. To avoid trouble
with the brass, they would mark most items as unservicable, and ship
them out so they would have a clean, orderly shop.
