Hi, y'all:

LONG POST WARNING: I'm a new member of the list. While I don't own
a MV, I do write about them quite a bit and photograph some of the
best -- mostly current issue, till recently, plus some beautifully
restored tanks and light armor in private hands. I just finished a
new book called INSIDE THE GREAT TANKS for Windrow & Greene and am
currently completing another called MILITARY VEHICLES. And I could
use your help on this second project.

This latter book, unlike the first, will include about 10 to 20
thin-skinned and combat service support vehicles, including of course
the legendary jeep out of a total of about 40 tanks, trucks, AFVs,
etc., in the whole volume. Obviously, the book won't include
everything, and has to include British, German, and Soviet models in
addition to US vehicles, so I'm sticking to the classics of the past
and present. This book will also include a chapter on military
vehicle collecting, with a list of organizations and suppliers.

Most of the photography has been done with the armies of the US,
Britain, and Russia so far -- plus the spectacular collection owned
by Jacques Littlefield in California. More photography is coming
from archives and private collections. And I have lined up some
collectors in Northern California who've agreed to pose their
vehicles for photos.

I'm not an expert in this field, although I have a lot of experience
with combat vehicles (and combat, for that matter). So I am
soliciting advice from members on this list, particularly for counsel
on which collectables MUST be included. I'd like your ideas on what
you'd like to see in a newgeneral audience picture book on MV.
Contact me off the list if you're willing to provide advice.

And sample photographs are available on my web site. The MV shots
are mostly on a dedicated page, but check the home page for some
M1 Abrams shots, too.
