Just insured my M-54A1 with J.C. Taylor (800-345-8290). $50/year for
liability/collision/comprehensive. Vehicle must be restored, kept in a
locked garage and only driven in parades/shows, etc. Needless to say, I
can meet those conditions! :} (It's a BIG garage!)
It took a couple of passes, because they wanted better pictures than I
had originally sent, but they came through. I was really worried,
because USAA (my car insurance co.) wouldn't cover it because it's too
big, and commercial truck insurance companies wouldn't cover it because
it was for 'personal use'.
BTW, USAA originally told me they would cover it, and they backed out
when I reminded them how big it was. Turns out they won't cover anything
over 1 ton (I know, what about pickups, but that's what they said!). The
kicker is, they told me that if they found out that your vehicle is over
one ton, they won't cover it, *period*. If they've written a policy on
such a vehicle, they will *NOT* pay if you file a claim! So, you folks
with USAA insurance on your 1-1/4 ton trucks might want to double check
with them. You could really be screwed if you had an accident and needed
that liability insurance!
