Jim,

I don't know why USAA beleives that they can get away without paying if they
wrote a policy on a vehicle and it is above 1 ton. Generally if they write
the policy and they violate there own rules they have waived there rights to
not pay a claim based on those rules. If you have disclosed all informaiton.
So if they do not pay the claim they are left open for a lawsuit. They tried
to pull somewhat of the same thing with me on boat insurance after my boat
sank. Most insurance compnaies will try to get out of the claim by dazzling
you with B.S. but if you fight it you will generally find that if they are
violating the contract you will win.
