Carter.... I agree with you 100%, the thing that sticks in my mind is,
soon after arrival at that base, us "FNG's were given a demo to scare the
hell out of us, we had to observe a "ontos" firing all six gun tubes
simultaneously after stacking ammo crates behind it. Needless to say the
collection of "toothpicks" after was quite impressive! The same went with
the "dead zone" to the side of the 90 m/m's on the tanks! Not a good place
to be! I was told by a vietnam vet, he had heard of them, seems the guys
would take off the rifles, and replace them with quad-50's. He had never
seen them in action.
