I don't know what the other things might be (probably alcohol) but MTBE
usually is OK. It's a petroleum based product (Ether) whereas ethanol is
plain old grain alcohol from corn!
When they first made us start using "Goofy-Gas" we had a choice - some
stations sold MTBE and some ethanol. But MTBE was cheaper to produce so the
ethanol producers and corn growers complained that MTBE was unfair
competition. In steps good old Washington and subsidizes ethanol!!! So now
ethanol is cheaper and the only thing sold around here!!! Your tax dollars
at work!!!!
