speaking of the aleutians there is a great book that has been reprinted
several times called 'the forgotten war' which documents the building
of the alaska highway and the defense of alaska from a possible japanese
attack.its chock full of photos of downed planes sitting on the tundra
and
army truck dumps all over the north.i've personally visited one of these
dumps
and found lots of dodge bodies and at least one halftrack with trees
growing
through it.a friend of mine recovered an engine block and trailered it
home
to use in his canadian c(?) army truck!
