[MV] Knuckle lube

folks:

I've replaced the boot on one of the front knuckles on my M-54A1. I've
got a conundrum: The TM sez that the knuckle should be filled "to the
level of the plug opening" (note 7, fig 106) with GAA (grease, Fig 102).
This doesn't make sense to me for a couple of reasons:

1. How do you get grease to 'fill to the level of the opening', unless
it's really thin?
2. When I drained it, I got GO (gear oil) out. Don't think the seal
between the knuckle and the diff is bad, the diff is still full, and no
oil seeped out when I jacked up the opposite side.

I'm thinking the TM is wrong and there should be GO in the knuckle. The
TM I have is pretty old (3 may '55) and the truck is a 67.

Anyone out there have any comments/suggestions?

Thanks
JIM
