Dozens of Police and Sheriff's Departments across the country are getting
Peacekeepers through the DoD 1033 Program. This has been going on for about 8
years.
They are primarily used as rolling shields. I know of no agencies using hard
mounted machine guns. Turrets are used for lights, cameras, or possibly
handheld gas launchers.

Several departments are also using British ex Mod Pigs or Saracens, which are
actually better vehicles than the Peacekeepers.

Interesting to note that while Peacekeepers are being dumped at home, Wheels
and Tracks showed one still being used, along with some other shabby looking
AFV's, by IFOR in Bosnia. The IFOR rig had no turret, only a roof hatch.
