The content of vehicle log books will depend upon the requirements
contained in the appropriate Army Regulations in force at the time in
question. Formerly TM 38-750 contained the requirements for documents
in a vehicle's log book. Recent changes have moved these requirements
to TM 38-750-1 and AR 750-1. AR 750-1 can be found at the following
URL: http://www.atsc-army.org/cgi-bin/atdl.dll/ar/750-1/ar7501toc.htm

AR 750-1 states:

4-10. Materiel records and reports

Materiel records and reports for maintenance management and performance
of maintenance is prepared and maintained
as prescribed in DA Pam 738-750, DA Pam 738-751, and AR 700-138.

Depending upon the time frame you are tring to depict you should have a
variety of forms and publications. As I remember right in the mid 70's
you needed a series of maintenance oriented forms that stated the last
"Q service" and a record of the operation of the vehicle. In addition
there was always a requirement for a DA form 2401 that was current and
up to date. A description of a 2404 is as follows:

2-4. DA Form 2401, Organizational Control Record for Equipment. (Fig.
2-2)

a. Purpose. DA Form 2401 provides the location of equipment during
usage. (Fig 2-2)

b. General Information on form.

This form is needed from the start of the operational day. The same page
can be used for more than one day. Draw a line
through the middle of columns a through m below the last entry for the
day. Write the new date on the line. (Do not draw
a line or make a date entry for days in which equipment is not used.)

c. Disposition.

(1) Destroy the form one month after the last entry in column 1 has been
closed out.

(2) If an accident occurs, keep the form until the completion of the
investigation.

A separate DA Form 2404 is required for each system on the vehicle. For
example if the vehicle has a VRC-12 Radio and an M-2 50 Cal Machine Gun,
you would have a 2404 for the vehicle, radio, and the gun in the log
book.

In addition the log book would contain the appropriate TM for the piece
of equipment to include all installed systems in the above case the
VRC-12 and the 50 Cal.

Hope this helps you in your quest....
