Thanks all who replied to my temp gauge question. Some really *excellent*
replies and I was able to go straight to the spot on the block - found just
a plug there. (good sauce pan info too!) For now I've ordered a repro unit
from RR Services in Kent, but I'll be keeping the original for a future,
more affluent, time...

THIS WEEK'S QUESTION: regarding the axe and shovel on the side of the Jeep
- were the wooden handles generally painted as per the vehicle's colour, or
left 'wooden'? I've seen pictures of both treatments, and wonder is one way
more correct than t'other.

thanks.

On the subject of towing, remember even something as light as a 1/4 ton
jeep must be treated with great caution on the back of a trailer. While
towing mine after purchasing, the trailer at one point decided that it
wanted to drive.
On the other side of the road.
It started swinging so violently from side to side that at one point in my
'career' I looked in the rear-view mirror and saw no trailer. Barely
managed to save the Jeep, the trailer and myself from being severely
damaged - my plan to save $400 in transport costs nearly meant one less
'rolling' MV.
