I checked out the site everyone has been talking about. Obviously it is not
for those of us who know what is what. It looks like the old adds I saw
growing up that got me into this hobby. What he is doing is exploiting
those who don't know anything about surplus. All he is going to do is send
the people that write in, the address for the DRMS. He makes a quick buck
off of some poor sole that heard about those "50.00 dollar jeeps in a
crate" some time in his life. I feel for this same thing when I was in my
early teens and wanted one of those Army jeeps like on MASH so I sent away.
Hey you can buy M151A2's just like in the photo for 50.00 to 150.00. I have
seen them sell, heck the one only had 68 miles on it. You just don't get to
keep the body. I don't think the guy is out to rip any body off. But then
again I don't think any on the list would start such a web page that
exploited anyone wanting to get into this hobby we love so much. Heck I
love getting people into this stuff. You watch them get ecstatic over
finding a manual for there vehicle at some surplus store. I always became
good friends with the people I sold vehicles to. It was the most fun taking
them with me to a rally or show and watching them go crazy (and spend every
dime they had in the first hour) over all this green stuff. Well I strayed
a little off the original subject but what the heck why not. I WOULD LIKE
TO TELL ALL YOU NEW GUYS OUT THERE, THIS CAN BE THE MOST FUN YOU CAN EVER
HAVE. I HAVE MADE 100'S OF FRIENDS IN THIS HOBBY, AND WOULD ONLY SAY THAT
THERE ARE ONLY ENOUGH BAD ONES TO BE COUNTED ON ONE HAND. HAVE FUN & SAVE
THEM ALL. (I always tried)

Sincerely,

Dan Parmley Jr.
