[MV] starter question

Hello all,
Earlier this week I picked up an extra starter my for a 1952 M38A1
at a rather good price. Both starters seen identical and both are made by
Autolite. Upon closer inspection of the manufactures' plate the original
starter is a type I and the one I bought is a type II, both have the same
ORD. number (07355782) but have different Specification number's MIL-S-3785
on the original as opposed to AXS-1851. The manufactures' number is the
same MCZ4001UT. My question is, are there any differences that in the
starter that I cannot see, and is it safe if necessary to use this starter
on the engine. Thank You
