I seem to remember the troops of the 2d ACR referring to the VW and
AutoUnion (DKW) 1/4 tons as German Jeeps while I was assigned in Germany
with the 2d ACR. I also remember running the S-2 Ops Center and marking
spot reports from the units reporting sighting German Jeeps during field
exercises, and reports from along the border of Warsaw pact quarter ton
vehicles as "jeeps"
