I rebuilt the master cylinder on my 1953 M-37 and I used silicon brake
fluid. The only warning is FLUSH THE SYSTEM FIRST. Use denatured
alchohol and bleed it through the whole system to flush any old stuff
out. Other than that I have had no problems with it myself. I just
rebuilt the master cylinder and replaced the slave cylinders and flushed
the system with alchohol and viola it worked like a charm.

P.S. I haven't really seen any benifits from the silicon brake fluid
either but it certainly hasn't caused me any trouble.
