AEC Matadors 4 x 4s were / are quite common, and an armoured version is
still in Ross's yard in Girvan, Ayrshire. There used to be a 6 x 6
version of the same thing at Callendar, near Stirling, but it was sold
years back. I always assumed it was based on the 6 x 6 tanker / crane
chassis that was just a stretched Matador. Going on that flimsiest of
evidence I'd say they probably were quite rare. I can't remember seing
a restored version of either at a show in the UK but then I dont get to
that many. Anyone have a handle on how many were built ? Gordon 8-)
