Dear Mike,

sorry for the incomplete message. I've begun to respond your message,
when I was interrupted. Later I've forwarded all messages, and forgot
to complete the message to you before.

As far as I know the Z=FCndapp (Note the two dots on top of the letter u!)
type DB 250 was built from 1937 to 1940. It has a single cylinder two-
stroke engine with 247 cc capacity and performs 8.5 horsepowers
(German DIN hp).

It was not specially designed and built for the Wehrmacht. I think your
bike was one of the many civilian motorbikes which were confiscated for
Wehrmacht use.

The small 250cc bikes were used by rear units, not by combat units.

More common (in civil use) than the DB 250 was her little sister, the
DB 200 with 200 cc capacity. This was because motorbikes with up to
200 cc were tax free and free of driving licenses. So why buy a 250 cc,
if you get only little more performance, but have to pay tax and have=20
a have a driving license?

The Z=FCndapp two strokes are not very beloved by collectors. They prefer
the heavy KS 750 combinations and the other big bikes with horizontally
opposed piston engines and shaft drive. So I don't know any traders for
Z=FCndapp DB parts. The only source for parts are swap meets (autojumbles),
but there you need a lot of luck.

I'm not an expert for Z=FCndapp motorbikes. My passion are NSU motorbikes
including the Kettenkrad. There are some Z=FCndapp clubs in Germany, but=20
all of the are specialised in the big "boxer" bikes. (horizontally=20
opposed piston engines are called "boxer" engines in Germany)

So may be some other list member knows more?

Regards from cold wet Germany
Andreas
