My jeep's battery used to go dead if left alone for even a couple of days -
turned out the regulator was malfunctioning, meaning that it wasn't being
charged as it was driven. I had been continually re-charging it the night
before taking it out, thinking I'd need a new battery soon, until on one
long-ish drive the jeep just gave up and stopped. Then I finally had the
problem traced - one new regulator and all's well again...
... until my starter motor packed in
