[MV] Security, winches, and jump starting

All:

Thought I'd get in my $.06 on three subjects:

Security: I use a hidden kill switch (battery cutout) on my M-54. Cheap,
reasonably secure, reliable. Face it, if they want your vehicle that bad,
it's gone.

Winches: Just used my M-54 and the PTO winch to pull out a bulldozer (JD450)
that was stuck in the mud in one of my neighbors pastures. First time I'd
done some serious pulling, it's kinda scary when the 5/8" cable starts to
stretch and creak! Popped that ol' boy right out of his hole though.
Impressed the neighborhood kids too, they all want MVs now. (I made them
stand WAY back!)

Jumpers: I don't think it's ever a good idea to try and jump start a 24V
system from a 12v system. Best case, nothing will happen, worst case, the
12v battery could explode (yes, they do that, and it's not pretty. Neither
are you afterwards if you're close by!). You could also damage/destroy the
charging system in either or both vehicles. Best bet: Get a couple of 12v
chargers (that run on wall current), a long extension cord, and a good book.
Better safe and slow than fast and dead.

JIM :)
