My understanding is that all M37-B1's and M43-B1's had the door mounted spare.
The M42,
which was only a conversion kit that converted an M37 to an M42, did not have
the door mounted spare as part of the conversion kit. Many of the M37-B1's
also had a spare in
the bed in addition to the one on the door.

Not saying you guys are wrong but are you sure that all B1s came with the
door mounted spare tire carrier. Of course the M43, M42 when installed, and
the occasional specialty truck that did not have the spare integrated into
the specialty bed, had it on the door. It is just that this is the first
time I have heard this. I know that it was offered as kit. My USMC M37 has
it on the door. >>
