Yes, definitely works well. My hand carved version is still in the toolbox
as a backup but was a little small in diameter. When I saw the
nylon/plastic copy of the input shaft, complete with a loop on the end to
aid removal, in NAPA, for about US $4 I grabbed it quick (that was years
ago, I don't know current cost). For the other end of the trans (on
appropriate models) we still use the broken piece of driveshaft yoke to
keep the gear oil from pouring out during installation.
