A neighbor of mine (without internet acess) recently aquired a Military CJ3B
and is anxious to learn as much as he can about it.
My knowledge is very limited, and I told him I would appeal to the list for
help.
It is a CJ3B, DOD 4/64. Contract # DA20-113-AMC-02534-T.
Serial number is 126194. Paint code 999. The plate containing the paint code
also contains another number, the label of which is illegible. The number 67
is located to the right of the paint code.
The space alloted for 'arm of service maintaining vehicle' on the dash plate
is blank.
The jeep is ex-state road, and does not appear to be much modified, save for
several coats of hideous yellow paint.
The jeep has a 12 volt system, trailer towing receptacle, blank tailgate
(without bracing), headlight guards (like an M38), and bumperettes. If it had
a pintle hook (likely) it is now gone. Leaf springs appear to be heavy-duty.
The jeep has a 'Koenig' metal top and doors which appear to have been on the
jeep since delivery. It also has a flip out one-piece windshield and a neat
defroster setup, as well as a heater with a screened intake in the passenger
side cowl panel.
Original color was OD, hood numbers are gone.
Can anyone out there shed any more light on this jeep? It does not appear to
be an M606. The owner would really appreciate any information that anyone
could provide about his jeep, such as the branch of service that took
delivery, original tire/wheel size, and any other standard equipment that
might have been lost over the years.

P.S. The owner is a Vet who hitch-hiked to Columbus, Ohio in 1946 and bought a
GPW at a government aucton. He still has the pintle hook and the door safety
straps somewhere in the barn. A really nice guy.
Thanks,
Greg Burke
