Hmmmmmm, Have you tried closing your left eye and gritting your teeth
when you engage the starter? This usually helps on my jeep.

If that does not work, then start the vehicle with the air breather
removed. Turn the vehicle off and look down the carburetor throat (if
possible on that model). What you are looking for is fuel continuing to
drip down into the intake manifold. This problem is often caused by the
float valve sticking open. It can also be caused by an incorrect float
setting. Your problem sounds like a flooding situation to me.

Hey All:

I'm back with another question:

I have a 52 M-37 which is consistently difficult to start. I turn on the
ign switch, close the choke, pump the gas a couple of times, and crank,
it generally does not start. I usually have to open the choke, and floor
the gas for it to start. This problem is winter and summer, wet or dry,
etc...

A couple of details:
1- the ignition system has been replaced (Wires, plugs, cap, rotor,
points, ign switch),
The take out plugs were caked with carbon

2- the charging system has been replaced (New gen, reg, cables, and
batteries), It always cranks

3- I recently timed it to spec.

4- the fuel system has been replaced a few years ago (gas tank, lines,
fuel pump, carb)

My thoughts run to the carb being misadjusted. Can anyone tell me how to
properly adjust the carb. (Or any other suggestions get this puppy back
on track)

Thanks

Hank

(BTW one of the major reasons I need to correct this problem is when I
flood start it, my 76 Corvette which lives to the right of the truck
gets covered in soot and grease <G>)
