Hi Gang,

Well, I brought the International Harvester Corporation (IHC) 1-1/2 ton
home today. It was built as a crash truck, but now has a cargo bed on
it.

The best thing is that I drove it home, a distance of about 25 miles.
Other than spongy brakes and an intermittent miss, it did great. I
ain't fast, but seemed content to run along at 40mph.

Ironically, this truck was semi-refurbished around 1980 by a good friend
of mine. He sold it in 1986 when all I wanted was a jeep. It went to a
museum where it sat for over ten years before being sold recently. I
bought it from the past owner that only had it for a couple of weeks.

Despite the fact that most were built for the USMC and Navy, this truck
can be traced back to Fort Sill, Oklahoma. When originally purchased
from a rural fire truck by my friend, the USA number was visible through
the badly faded red paint.

For the time being, I will likely keep the modified M211 bed on it but
would like to perhaps find a crash truck rearend. I might also consider
a correct IHC cargo bed too.

I didn't need it, but I hated to see it become a cattle feeder truck.
