Just a couple of comments Chris:

I had the GM 2.8 mulit-port injected engine in my 88 Beretta, and had more
problems with it then I needed. Maybe it was just the lack of room under
the hood, but it was a pain in the butt to work on. The frequent
troubleshooting it required was fairly difficult because the computer that
controls absolutely everything in the combustion process gets its signals
from all over that engine. I was glad I got rid of that car.

Also, be careful driving in deep water with a flimsy radiator cooling fan.
Many an expensive radiator has been trashed by a fan strike as a vehicle
plunges into deep water at high RPM. Even boosting the revs while in deep
water may cause the fan to bend forward as water is thrust to the rear,
ripping a big circle in the back of the radiator.

Just my 2 cents worth...
