Hi Listers,

This looked an interesting topic so I called David Fletcher at Bovington for
an answer.

Zimmerit apparently is very much the same as linseed oil based window
(glazing) putty and Bovington have extensive documents on the stuff and the
various Allied trials of re-formulations, even straw was used on trial as a
"filler".

David says there is a person in France doing some in-depth historical
research on the stuff at the moment.

I would suggest that anybody with a hankering for detailed information on it
writes to Bovington for copies of the archive material.

Regards,

Richard
