i'm there are some you will disagree....but as
a mechanic of 30 some odd years here's my opinion.
helicoils are used all the time to repair spark plug
threads without removing the head. sure you will get
some small amount of metal in the cyl. but where is it
going to go ?? when you start the engine rev it up right
away to blow it all out the exhaust valve. i have never
had a problem and have never heard of anyone else having
any problem. ( be sure to use a good pair of needle nose
pliers to remove the tang fron the helicoil )
