Sagging suspensions are common on most all the old jeeps/Jeeps. I had
a friend take the springs from his '42 GPW to have them rearched. The
shop wouldn't do it. He said the age and generally rusted condition made
them very unlikely to take the rearch without breaking.

He said, generally, if the springs aren't in pretty good condtion, they
aren't good candidates for rearch. Well, that just about lets all the old
jeeps out of consideration. Although, it seems to me that if they were in
pretty good condition, they should not need rearched. I suppose it is
more for springs that have been overloaded, not old ones which have
lost the temper in them.
