During WW2 all left hand drive vehicles used in the UK had to have
CAUTION LEFT HAND DRIVE stencilled or marked on them, this was a legal
requirement I seem to remember, and was applied to vehicles whoever
used them. In the very late war period it is conceivable that some
vehicles were shipped straight into ports on the then-liberated
mainland and these would not necessarily have be so marked. Style and
placement varied widely.
