Fellow Listers,

I have followed this thread with interest and I appreciate Arthur letting
us continue it. Forgive me if I run on a bit, there is a point to be made.

A few years ago I had the opportunity to hear an actor named Ben Cooper
speak. He brought up a story about a man whom he had just introduced himself
to as an actor. After the introduction the man began to rail on Mr. Cooper
about the downward spiraling of movie quality (this was in the 1970's!). Most
of the types of films the man was griping about weren't even made in
the US. Mr. Cooper stopped the man and asked him when the last time he had bee
n to a movie was. The man answered that it had been many years. Upon hearing
this, Mr. Cooper pointed out to the man that he and people like him were the
true problem. When enough good people spend their money to see good movies
then producers will make more good movies. If good people shut themselves
out of the market then they have no effect on supply.

It is the same with public opinion. If enough good people that own mv's or gun
s, or who hunt-any of the non-pc hobbies-get out and rationally and tactfully
make a good socal presence and potential economic impact felt, then we can
overshadow the few who give us all a bad name. Be they rulebreakers or news
anchors. How much good publicity did those of you get who took their mv's
to theaters for "Pvt Ryan" showing generate? How about veteran's and memorial
parades. If you believe in your hobby then do something outside your garage
to promote it. If you believe in the fundamentals those who were issued our
mv's served for then speak up. Silence is just passive agreement and has no
influence either way.

I appreciate your time and the opportunity here, thanks Arthur.
