Hi again List,

In response to some enquiries, the bag is for a vehicle grease-gun
not an M3/M3A1 sub-machine gun which was also known as a
"grease-gun". The bag is clearly military in origin and looks like
other US canvas gear in construction and appearance although the part
number looks a bit "un-American".

I've never heard of any WW2 vehicle kit including a cover for a lube
gun. In fact, I'd imagine the mess made by leaking grease was
probably part of the reason for later production jeeps having a
grease gun bracket under the hood.
