I can't be any clearer than that at the moment as one contact of mine moved
about a lot there after the war.

I have also heard tales from many older historians that at Milne Bay New
Guinea, a pontoon wharf was extended out as far as they could safely go from
land. Then they would drive or tow whatever they could and drive it off the
end into "deep" water.

This was all part of the lend-lease bill at the time. A real waste. It would
be almost powder or coral reef by now. Mixed with explosives and all sorts
of temperamental goodies.
