I replied to Claude off-list a little earlier, but I just thought I would
mention to the list what I told him in case others are interested in the same
type of thing. An electronics-guru friend of mine designs and sells voltage
converters for 6V to 12V (and vice versa, with no heat loss that a resistive
voltage divider has). I suppose if there was sufficient interest, he would make
12V to 24V converters too. The 6 to 12 ones drive CB's and car radios without
