Good news for you, #2 fuel oil is the same as Diesel pump fuel EXCEPT the
color!

The President and his buddy (Algore) removed the sulfur from our Diesel fuel
in the US but I'm sure that applies to heating oil too. If you are outside
the US you should be fine. If you are in the US, you have no choice anyway.

Much of this country use #1 Diesel for fuel oil and it has LESS lubricity
(lubricating qualities) than standard Diesel. The #1 burns cleaner and has a
lower gelling point so it's best for cold climates. If you can get #2
cheaply, run it and be happy! When your manual mentions heating fuel, it most
likely assumes it is #1.

I do have one warning though, because of the color difference, anyone
concerned has no problem seeing that you have a "non highway taxed" fuel in
your tank. (This only applies to US fuel only, as far as I'm aware)
