Folks:
I think I sent this out to an individual rather than to the list, I
wish "reply" on this list went to the list instead of the fellow who sent
the message, but I digress...

You blokes have convinced me to up gun the old girl from a 216 to a 235
or 261 but I need some specifics on the job. My questions are these, if I
go to the bigger engines how many, if any, of the peripherals, like the
intake/exaust manifolds, the carb, the starter, the distributor, etc, will
go from the 216 to the bigger engines? Also, on the subject of engine
mounts which years of the bigger motors will mate up with the existing
motormounts. Also when do these motors go to full pressure systems rather
than the dipper system? On the subject of the water pump, I saw on the
list that the 261, and maybe the 235, pump is longer and in a different
place than the 216 but that there is a short water pump to allow the big
motor(s) to fit in the older vehicles where space is tight. Where might I
get one of these? And lastly, are the 235 and 261 comman engines? Could I
just buy a rebuild from a commercial supplier some where?
I know that some of this has passed on the list in the last weak or so
but there are two of us out here who have the same problem and it would be
real helpfull for both of us to get this information, after all the last
thing I want to do is buy the wrong engine for the project and have to
sweat out some BS modifications to get it in. Thanks for your help.
