All the Chevy engines that directly or mostly fit were produced thru 1962.
Finding them can be a problem. I usually pick them up 'just because' when I run
across them is they turn and are not blown.

Jim Carter (a chevy PU parts dealer on the WWW) has what he claims is the
correct water pump. The accessories, some fir. Do NOT replace the dist. Thaey
tried a lot of things back then. Keep the dist with the motor. Carbs, if they
fort can usually be mixed within a make; Chev or GMC. Mixing between makes from
my experience does not work w/o rejetting.

There are 6v and 12v flywheels/ring gears. You can swap the ring gears is you
choose. I run only 6v setups running off of 12 volts. There are also 4 bolt
flywheels and 6 bolt flywheels. The cranks being different too.

When you swap one of these engines, you usually only want to change the
bellhousing and nothing else!. Keeo the engine intact

Whenever you move/remove a Chevy/GMC engine, the FIRST thing you should do is
remove the dist and carb. I have quite a collection of bent dists and broken
carbs! They are quite suceptable to damage when moving.

The 261's are VERY rare. I have seen 3 in 30+ years. I own 2 of them.
