There is something taking electricity all the time, hence the dead battery. The
D-T, having a generator can sit for long times w/o discharging the battery. A
vehicle with an alternator cannot.

I suspect something in the starter series parallel switch or the generator
regulator. If it is visable on the ammeter, then the load is resonably high.
You can try disconnecting things, one at a time while someone watches the
ammeter. I would suggest that you start with the wire going to the generator
regulator.
