Rob,

Here in Texas, you can register a vehicle for about $50 for a five year
period. This is under the military vehicles plates. There are some
restrictions like you can't use the truck for everyday transportation and
you can't have advertising for a business plastered all over it. With the
military vehicle plates you get to use your vehicles hood number or other
designated military number and you don't need a state inspection or
insurance. However, you are still libel for any and all damages if you are
found guilty in an accident. There is no restriction on the amount of
mileage you can drive (as Texas is a very large state) as long as it's for
one of the prescribed events or functions outlined in the law. (I.E. A club
event or event of public interest and there's some others) I consider going
to the gas station an educational or event of pubic interest as I always
have at least one person ask some sort of questions. As most, if not all of
the persons on this list probably get the same reaction.
