[MV] Replacement of M38 Lower Floor

Hello List:
Has anyone replaced the lower floor of a jeep? I can envision first
removing tub from frame, trimming out the old floor close to spot welded
edges and carefully grinding off spot weld tits. Since I don't have a spot
welder, I also envision drilling a series of, say, 1/8" holes in the floor
edge, then clamping in the new one and rosette welding each hole through to
the adjacent material. Poor man's spot welder.
I suppose some diagonal measurements would help maintain alignment before
welding; also cross-checking dimensions from mount holes in frame. How
flexible or wobbly is the tub without a lower floor in it? I have a large
rotating jig I built for radial aircraft engine work I plan to adapt to the
tub for manipulation.
Any personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!!
