Off the Dime (was:Re: RE [MV] Reality Check)

Maybe its time we turn the tables on the government and make due process
work for us...

I have drafted a politely worded request that could be sent to our
legislators in the federal government. It requests that there be
consideration to create a listing of MVs and equipment that could be
allowed into the U.S. for the purpose of historical restoration and public
education, as well as a request to create a system that would license
operators of heretofore "unsafe" vehicles to drive them. If you would like
a copy, I will send it to you so that you can send it to your government
representatives.

Last week I contributed to a half-a**ed grass roots movement to send a
message to the oil companies (Nothing happened, didn't expect it to do
anything, but you shoulda SEEN the number of folks who responded
positively!).

Now I'm proposing a grass roots movement to secure the continued existence
of all of the "rolling museums" that you all happen to own. (If I'm really
obnoxious, maybe the government will give me a jeep just to shut me up!)

You wanted a reality check? There it is, good as gold.

They work for US, dagnabit, not the other way around...

On the other hand, this puts the onus on us to offer to police up and help
make it work...

Sincerely,

Bill Benson
