List,
We mil-veh enthusiasts are very fortunate here in southern New Jersey
where I live. We get invited to almost all of the car shows, with exceptions
like shows devoted to Mustangs, Corvettes and, etc. Darn near every one
of them waives the registration fee and they have a class just for military
vehicles. Since these clubs are not geared to military vehicles and the
judges are usually not familiar with them, the viewing public often casts
votes for the entries. When we do get judged, all of our vehicles are put
in the same class, so details on the restoration (paint, etc)are the factors
considered. This Sunday we are invited to a show to be held at the New
Jersey (veterans) Memorial Home in Vineland, NJ. The Nostalgia Knights
Car Club is sponsoring the show "Memories in the Grove" and proceeds
go to the home. They're giving trophies in 23 classes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
Dash plaques to the first 100 entries. Military vehicle entries do not have
to pay the $12.00 registration fee. We also get invited to several shows
held at the Millville (NJ) Army Air Museum and the Air Victory Museum
in Medford, NJ. There are many other shows that have the same policies,
including the semi-annual car show/swap meet held at the Cumberland
County Fair Grounds.
I don't travel very far to shows, so I don't know anything about other areas
in NJ.
