I'll second that, I should think Miles do 99.9 and 44/100ths of the
private MV's here, we have absolutely none of the hassles recently seen
on the list; you need a green card too with the insurance as this is
recognised instantly by the continental authorities. Don't forget the
international driving licence as well.

I have mentioned this privately to Lida but here it is again for all;
the French credit cards have an imbedded ROM chip with a little
rectangle of gold contacts to the outside world, your (and my) cards
will not work in a French ATM, you have to go into a bank in person.

You can potentially expect your card to be returned therefore in some
places with a curt "Non".

Remonstrate. We are issued here with a multi-lingual explanation sheet
from the big card companies that tell the retailer how to action a
non-chipped card.
