Nigel, you're wrong..it's the French Government who sets these
prices, and yes, traditionally, Supermarkets are allowed to
discount their gas. Aside from this it is heavily regulated and
controlled, like everything else in France, and yes, be prepared
to fork out over a dollar per liter (fourth of a gallon!)...As
for the attitude of the gas station attendants...well, there's
no excuse for it, excepted that if their gas station has to
cater to a convoy of mil-vehs, you can imagine the reaction of
"civilians" trying to get gas to go to work...
You can see why I chose to live in California...
