An M215, according to the Standard Catalog of US
Military Vehicles, is:
a dump truck based on the M211 chassis, but with a
slightly shorter wheelbase. A 2 1/2 cubic yard body,
with a doouble floor and large cab shield, was used. A
large single hydraulc cylinder was used, and the
entire assembly was built bt Garwood. The hydraulic
pump was driven from a PTO on the transfer case. Hoist
controls were inside the cab.

The M211 is a 2 1/2 ton 6x6. It was designed from the
GMC CCKW trucks used in WWII. It was much more
roadworthy and had a longer mechanical life that it's
predecessors. The cab was larger and used heavier
sheet metal in all vehicle areas. Better seating,
interior room, and weatherproffing were incorporated.
Waterproff ignitions, heater kits, and hinged doors
helped modernize the trucks.

The M215 specs:

weight empty=14,460
GVW=24,460

Engine GMC 6 cyl. 302 cube bore and stroke 4X4
130 HP
