List...

I have held many different positions in a Mechanized
and Armored Cavalry Units, One of which was the motor
officer.

Let me preface my remarks by saying, There is nothing
more embarassing than being the Motor Officer and
having your own rig towed in because it was broke...

While serving as the Motor Officer I had built a unit
that strapped to my M-151A2 that included both an
AM/FM Cassette Radio and a CB Radio both powered by 12
Volts. The radios were mounted to a 1x12 complete
with speakers and antennas that were laid down in a
stealth mode under the canvas top of the Jeep. The
board was made to mount on top of the ROPS roll bar
with a fuse block and a power cord with two clips that
were attached to a SINGLE BATTERY, yielding 12 volts
to the fuse block. The wood mounting panel was
insulated from the Jeep completely.

In the several years that I used my system I never had
the batteries go flat on the jeep ever. Also I never
received any comments from my superiors regarding my
system because they never knew it existed even when
they stood by my windows looking in and chating with
me. It worked great and didn't permenatly modify the
jeep and I could move it from vehicle to vehicle if I
needed to.
