Hello Daniel...and other interested parties on the Mil-Veh
List...

I own a Harley 42 WLA, a completely restored 42 XA, both
currently in Normandy (France), and a second Harley 42 XA being
restored here in Los Angeles. I am willing to trade information
and sources or parts with you. Tell me (off-list, please!) in
what stage your project is, what parts you are missing etc...
Manuals, TM's and Spare Parts Lists exist in repro form from
Portrayal Press, and I highly recommend the two books by Bruce
Palmer III "How to restore your Harley Davidson" and its
companion book: "How to restore your military Harley-Davidson"
Pictures of various models are available throughout Internet. I
also recommend David Sarafan's "The Liberators" and Jerry
Hatfield's book: "Inside Harley Davidson"...
The Pentagon Photo Library has good pictures of WLA's, XA's and
Indian 741's in service on various WWII Theaters. I was able to
order a nice collection about 15 years ago, I am not sure if it
is still feasible
And finally I strongly recommend that you join the MVPA and get
back Issues of "Army Motors" that contain in-depth studies about
various models of US Military Bikes...
I am not as knowledgeable about Indians but I am sure you'll
find someone who is...
