Paul,

Another photo appeared on the cover of Army Motors No. 26 fall 1983. It is
listed as "Radio Set - 499 installed in 1/4 ton with gas generators carried
in trailer. Camp Polk, LA 1/28/44"
The BC610 is facing forward and mounted against the tailgate. The antenna
tuner is also mounted facing forward and mounted on the left rear fenderwell
also back against the tailgate. I believe the speech-amp is on the left
fenderwell facing inboard but it may be the rx. I do not see a clear picture
of the receiver in the photo unless I am mistaking the speech amp for one.
There are 2 antenna whips. One on the left rear quarter and one at the front
of the passenger doorway. The passenger seat is facing the rear. The BC610
either displaced or crushed the rear seat! The 1/4 ton trailer has 2
generators that seem to fill it almost completely. I'm not good at ID of
those. Possibly Mr. Brown can ID them if I show him the pix.
Hopefully, you are planning this impossible radio/jeep combo. Also, I have
seen another photo of a "signal jeep" at camp Polk. I believe it may be the
same installation except it has full blackout canvas installed.

Possibly I can have a quality copy of this photo done for you if you dont
have your 1983 AM around.

PS. The M-38 is here. I have some work to do tracking down the arctic
heaters. I have found the GRC19 that I sold 5 years ago. I am going to work
up some kind of a trade for it. Thanks for the RDF photo too. That is
alternative plan B.
