It's my understanding that the Long Range Desert Groups were pretty much =
self sufficient. Meaning they had to carry what they needed for as long =
as they were out. Every little tiny bit of extra weight was trimmed to =
allow for more supplies. I once stumbled onto a history page with lots of =
information and pictures regarding this, but I'll be darned if I can find =
it now.

why do most of the desert jeeps have all but two slats cut out of the =

Does removing the slats help that much in cooling, or did someone just =
think
it would?
